In this months Hospitality Design, Will Speros examines the planned openining of InterContinental Perth City Centre. Located in the heart of Perth, within the opulent King Street Precinct, the 16-story hotel will house 240 Woods Bagot designed guestrooms alongside F+B outlets designed by EDG.
"Layers of design details will welcome guests, from sandstone lobby walls, sweeping sculptural elements, dramatic lighting, glass-encased stairwells, and elegant furnishings. The hotel also boasts an extensive art collection that features several bespoke pieces made by leading West Australian artists.
Luxurious, residential-style rooms will range from classic and city-view guestrooms to executive studios and suites. Guests staying in Club InterContinental rooms will have exclusive access to the Club InterContinental Lounge, a sanctuary crowning the structure that also houses an executive meeting room. The five Gallery meeting suites in various sizes will be flooded with natural light and host up to 150 guests. A breakout area lounge is equipped with a spacious outdoor terrace, a bar, and two open kitchens.
EDG Design led the design efforts for the property’s many F&B options. The Spanish venue Heno & Rey will accommodate a reinterpreted tapas bar, while fellow Spanish concept Ascua will make a dramatic statement on the ground floor with a striking open kitchen and intimate banquette seating. The Loft Lounge will arrive on the next level, serving as a café space with a laidback indoor-outdoor environment. The food truck-dive hybrid Graffiti—a gourmet grab-and-go concept—will feature a roller door adorned with artwork from local street artist Daek William." -Will Speros
