In this weeks Los Angeles Times, Mary Forgione explores New hotels opening this year in California, from the wine country to the beach.
At Westdrift Manahattan Beach, Forgione notes on "some pretty luxury touches: a nine-hole golf course, Cross-Fit inspired fitness center and an indoor/outdoor restaurant. The hotel, part of the Autograph Collection, has 392 rooms and suites. The style is described as "bi-coastal-chic," with wood and metal touches. Case in point: an Argentine driftwood chech-in desk, as well as artwork by California artist Eric Zener. It is set to open in February.
Lido House (another addition to Autograph Collection hotels in Southern California) brings 130 rooms, eight suites and five three-story cottages-- each with a distinct motif by different designers--- to Balboa Peninsula. The hotel will feature a rooftop bar called the Topside, a saltwater pool with private cabanas, a fitness center and a spa. The overall design will feature Cape Cod-style architecture."
