EDG Design Behind the Downtowner in Saratoga Springs

In today's article, Hospitality Design editor, Will Speros, covers EDG's involvement with the Downtowner in Saratoga Springs. "Lark Hotels is set to unveil its maiden project in New York state with the arrival of the Downtowner in Saratoga Springs. Formerly the Saratoga Downtowner motel, the new property was overhauled by Novato, California-based EDG Design.

The 42 renovated guestrooms have been outfitted with a variety of pop, edge, and surrealist art styles. A minimalist design aesthetic demonstrates a playfulness and sophistication across modern, loft-like interiors characterized by polished concrete floors, white gallery walls, and hot pink accents. Guestrooms range from 180-square-foot queen rooms to the expansive Lark suite, which boasts a more colorful palette and a clandestine staircase that leads to a secret rooftop garden.

An open, window-lined atrium serves as the nucleus of the hotel, equipped with a retractable glass roof. The space is also anchored by a dramatic painted floor that depicts the imagery of a pool that was once installed on the property’s base."- Hospitality Design.
