To celebrate its 11th anniversary, the stately InterContinental San Francisco hotel has revealed its head-to-toe refresh in the city’s SOMA district. The modern update features guestrooms revamped by locally based firm BraytonHughes Design Studios with the local office of design practice EDG overseeing the lobby design.
Crafted akin to a San Francisco apartment, residential-style guestrooms now embrace a new, crisp color palette. Gray carpeting is adorned with pinstripe patterns reminiscent of a man’s suit—an image that is amplified through tailored elements such as suit-like buttons on the bed skirt detailed in stripes of International Orange, the official color of the Golden Gate Bridge. Corridors feature modern sconces and neutral wallcoverings, while elevator lobbies boast carpets and ceilings that recall the city’s seasonal fog.
Included among the renovated 43,000 square feet of meeting and event space are two luxe ballrooms as well as 21 meeting rooms spread across the hotel’s third, fourth, and fifth floors.
