The design responds to Japan's unending quest for harmony with nature and the desire to unite the divine forces of the universe: sea, forest, mountain and sky are all referenced in subtle, simple ways. As with the menu, the materials are raw and unadulterated; a celebration of the natural world at its most refined. A melding of modernism and indigenous aesthetics.
