In this months Hospitality Design magazine, Ritz-Carlton's Global Brand Officer Tina Edmundson offers her insight on brand strategy and gives a little preview of EDG's latest project - Ritz-Carlton Reserve Los Cabos.
"The Marriott-Starwood merger is a coming home of sorts for Tina Edmundson. Before joining Marriott eight years ago, she was with Starwood for almost two decades - mostly redefining, expanding and creating luxury and lifesyle brands for both companies. Now, as newly named global brand officer she has the great challege of overseeing and defining (and redefining) all 30 brands for the new conglomerate.
One vital takeaway (of the brand immersion), says McNamara, is that even if travelers don't have a chance to explore the city, the design should be powerful enough that they understand and appricate the culture. Evoking a location's spirit is executed particularly well at the smattering of Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties. Los Cabos, Mexico (desinged by EDG), "which will open next year and is a little off the beaten path, secluded with a desert feel but just right there on the water, says McNamara"
